International Law Commission
The CAVV considers that one of its tasks is to provide the government with advice on the work of the United Nations International Law Commission (ILC).
The activities of this eminent commission of legal scholars are aimed at the codification and development of international law. The CAVV’s commentary on the ILC’s work plays a key role in the Netherlands’ contribution to discussions on the development of law in the General Assembly of the United Nations, as well as in responses to the work of the ILC.
The CAVV’s advisory reports are translated into English and enclosed as annexes to the Netherlands’ input documents.
